Six recurring reminders, compatible with Apple, Google and Outlook calendars.

January

  • New tax year. Review your Tax Credit Certificate in myAccount: rate band, credits, and no outdated adjustments carried over.
  • The Employment Detail Summary for the previous year becomes available; download it, as lenders request it later.
  • If rotating in January, register the new employment in myAccount before your first payday.

February

  • The Preliminary End of Year Statement is available. Request the Statement of Liability and claim the previous year's medical expenses and any missed reliefs.

March

  • Check that your payslip reflects any national pay-agreement increase; recent agreements have included spring adjustment dates.

April

  • A good month to review the oldest still-open tax year and claim anything outstanding before it closes in December.

May

  • Mid-year AVC review: compare contributions to date against your headroom. Adjusting a monthly amount now is easier than a lump sum in October.

June

  • Compare cumulative tax paid on your payslip against your Tax Credit Certificate; six months of data is enough to identify a wrong basis.

July

  • Changeover. Register the new employment with Revenue immediately; this is the month emergency tax is most common.
  • TSS balances are cleared at the training-year deadline (the Thursday before changeover) and the system locks for four weeks. Claim beforehand.
  • If emergency tax applies despite registering, ask Medical HR about the €850 Temporary Recoverable Payment.
  • Check the first payslip from the new employer: increment point, tax basis, pension deductions.

August

  • Confirm the changeover resolved correctly: cumulative tax basis, correct increment point, and the TSS balance showing for the new year.

September

  • CPD-SS enrolment closes on 30 September for non-training NCHDs; late enrolment is not accepted.
  • Calculate your remaining AVC allowance before deciding on a top-up.

October

  • 31 October: deadline to pay an AVC and backdate the relief against the previous year's income (18 November where paying and filing through ROS).
  • Health insurance renewal letters issue around now for many policies; compare plans before renewal.

November

  • 1 November is the Local Property Tax liability date for property owners.
  • A convenient month for a year-end payslip review, ahead of December payroll cutoffs.

December

  • 31 December: the oldest open tax year closes permanently. Final opportunity for four-year backdated claims.
  • Gather the year's medical receipts for the January claim.
  • Year-end review: what was claimed, what was missed, and what changes in January.
