Lots of people will live in Galway and commute out to Ballinasloe. Options are train (15 min walk to hospital from train) or drive ± carshare (45-60 min from Galway). Nightlife / social life isn't great in Ballinasloe, but rent is cheaper than Galway. Commute is very manageable.

Commutable. Most people don’t stay locally. The 7:30 train from Galway is useful if you need to be in 8:30-9. Can get the bus directly from the train station to the hospital.
