The rota

Nights are blocks, either Monday-Thursday, or Friday-Sunday, and are 12-hour shifts.

Canteen is open at night for a full meal service from 1am-2am.

Workload & stress

No call rooms for interns, you will be too busy to need one anyway.

Support on call

4 interns and one med reg for the wards overnight.

Busy, busy call, lots to learn, great learning. Neurosurgery still has 24 hour shifts and not uncommon to work 10-14 days in a row, but makes lots of money in overtime. People are nice and you’ll learn.

Run list 7.30 am. Long rounds 8-12pm, jobs till 4.30pm (shared with SHOs, they do intern jobs too), run list at 4.30pm, leave on time unless on call. On call is 24 hours.
